UKTram is delighted to announce our new Chairman George Lowder, who will be taking over from Geoff Inskip on 1st August, following Geoff’s recent decision to step down after many years leading UKTram and fulfilling his recent aim of securing UKTram’s future and the formation of the Light Rail Safety and Standards Board for the Industry.
George is a versatile Chief Executive, Director and Chair recognised by National, Scottish and Local Government and The Defence Board. George has proved a skilled, strategic leader, planner and deliverer.
He has an aptitude for seeing through complexity to derive strategies and policies that deliver tangible effects and desired outcomes. As an effective leader and manager, expert in programme and budget management and project delivery. Developed and tested over 3.5 years as Chief Executive of Transport for Edinburgh and 34 years of military service.
George has led Defence, Tri-Service, cross governmental and multinational teams at home and abroad.
Most recently he has been responsible for delivering an integrated transport strategy for Edinburgh and the Lothians. Immediately prior to this providing strategic understanding to inform National and Defence decision making, requiring the highest levels of communication, representational and influencing skills.
